Biographical Information[edit]

Adolfo Luján was probably the top Cuban hurler of the 1880s.

Luján debuted in 1882-1883 with Almendares, going 2-1. There was no Cuban Winter League in 1884. In 1885, he moved to Habana and helped them to a title. In 1885-1886, he was 5-0 to power Habana to another title, leading the league in wins. He repeated the 5-0 mark in 1887 and Habana again won it all.

In 1888, he led the CWL with 15 complete games and 11 wins for Habana. He was 10-3 for them in 1889. In 1889-1890, he was limited by injury, going 1-0. He was 0-1 in 1890-1891, his last season. He finished his career with a record of 34-9. He was an inaugural inductee in the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939.
