Acipco
The American Cast Iron and Pipe Company (Acipco) sponsored an amateur baseball team from 1915 to 1958. They may have been one of the greatest semi-pro teams of all time. They dominated the Birmingham Industrial League from the 1920s to the 1940s. They won nine consecutive pennants from 1928 to 1936, and from 1928 to 1943 they won 14 pennants in 16 years.
They played their home game at Sloss Field, in Birmingham, AL.
The had a 83-6 record in 1935, a 49-1 record in 1942, a 47-4 record in 1943, a 57-11 record in 1946, and a 35-7 record in 1949.
They had many players who played in the major leagues, such as Artie Wilson, Piper Davis, Ed Steele, Red Howard, Sam Hairston, Jim Williams, Earl Little, Felix Manning, and others.
