Biographical Information[edit]

Abel Moreno began his professional baseball career with the Anaheim Angels affiliate in the Dominican Summer League, going 8-3 with a 2.61 ERA. He moved to the AZL Angels the next season and went 2-3, 3.00. In 2003 Moreno had a great year. He was 1-1, 1.62 in three starts for the Cedar Rapids Kernels and 10-0, 2.38 for the Provo Angels. With Provo, he fanned 79 and walked 10 in 68 innings. He led the Pioneer League in wins, was third in ERA and was voted the #11 prospect in the league by managers. He was also selected as the Pioneer League's Pitcher of the Year. Spending all of 2004 with Cedar Rapids, Moreno went 10-8 with a 3.41 ERA, though he led the Midwest League with seven balks. He did not pitch in 2005, reportedly due to "visa problems". Abel Moreno was signed by Dan Duquette to pitch for the Petach Tikva Pioneers of the Israel Baseball League in 2007; he went 1-3 with a 5.60 ERA.
