Number 90 is usually reserved for non-roster invitees in spring training, who stand little chance of making the team. It was first worn in the majors by Adam Cimber, who made the San Diego Padres' opening day roster in 2018 after wearing the number in the spring and electing to keep it in spite of being offered to change it for a more traditional set of digits.
