The 2020 Latin American Series was scheduled to be played in Panama City but was cancelled due to of a lack of teams. The reasons were - Panama was again invited to take part in the Caribbean Series after winning the event the year before. Colombia replaced Cuba in the 2020 Caribbean Series after the Cubans withdrew due to visa issues. The Veracruz League was on a one-year hiatus. Argentina and Curaçao declined to enter. This left Nicaragua as the only confirmed participant.
