2009 Open international de Rouen

The 2009 Open international de Rouen was the inaugural edition of the invitational baseball tournament, hosted by the Rouen Huskies. It was played from July 22-26, 2009 in Rouen, France.

Seven international teams from five different countries participated (France, Belgium, Germany, Quebec (Canada) and the USA). Representing Germany was the 2009 Gauting Indians team, composed of the best foreign players in the German federal league. France fielded three teams, the French national team and the Under-19 Junior National team (both made up of players from the Division Elite) as well as the Rouen Huskies. Belgium was represented by the Belgian National team, composed of players from the various Belgian League teams. The American delegation was known as the USA Athletes and was composed of college ballplayers. The Quebec team fielded players from the Quebec Senior Elite Baseball League (LBSEQ).

July 22, 2009: Rouen Huskies – France U19 Juniors 6-1

July 23, 2009:

• Rouen Huskies – Gauting Indians 4-11
• Team USA – Team France 7-6 (notably, featuirng a walk off three-run homerun by Alex Sickman in seventh)
• Team Quebec – France U19 Juniors 3-2

July 24, 2009: France U19 – Gauting Indians 5-8

• Gauting Indians – Team Quebec 12-0 (5)
• Team France – Team Belgium 10-0 (5)

July 25, 2009: Team Belgium – Team USA 3-11 (featuring eight runs by Team USA in 7th)

• Rouen Huskies – Team Quebec 1-7
• Semi-Final #1: Team USA – Team Quebec 4-1 (featuring a two-run homerun by Travis Perkins in 6th)

July 26, 2009:

• Rouen Huskies – Belgium 2-3 (Belgium finishes in 5th place)
• Semi-Final #2: Gauting Indians – Team France 2-0
• Finals: Gauting Indians – Team USA 13-2

The Gauting Indians would go on to win the tournament, with a 13-2 victory over the American team.

2010 Edition of the Open

After the success of the first tournament, the Rouen Huskies have announced that the 2010 version of the Open international de Rouen will take place from July 12-17, 2010.
