1992-1993 Australian Baseball League
The 1992-1993 season was the fourth for the Australian Baseball League. For the third year in a row, the second-place team in the regular season won the pennant.
The Melbourne Monarchs took the title with a 2-0 final series against the Perth Heat. The Monarchs were a new franchise in the league but manager Jon Deeble guided them to a title. Don Lemon (6-4, 2.26) and Barry Parisotto (8-4, 2.05, 4th in ERA) were the top arms in the finals. In game two, Lemon tossed a no-hitter for the first 7 innings to wind up with a combined 3-hit, 1-0 win. In game one, Parisotto set an ABL record with 11 strikeouts in a 14-2 rout. Lemon split regular season MVP honors. Ross Jones (13 Sv) was named the league's top relief pitcher.
Perth was led by Graeme Lloyd, who had his third strong year in a row in the ABL. He was 8-1 with a 1.48 ERA and walked only 4 while striking out 57 in 61 IP. Lloyd led the league in ERA. Perth also featured Rick Krivda (8-1, 2.32), a former US Olympic performer and former big-leaguer Greg Jelks (.378, 12 HR), the runner-up in average. Jelks was named to the All-Star team at shortstop.
The co-MVP with Lemon was Brisbane Bandits infielder Kevin Jordan, who hit .390 and twice hit for the cycle, something no one had done in the ABL prior to this year.
The manager of the year was Phil Dale of the Waverley Reds; Dale also pitched, going 3-5 with 7 saves and a 2.47 ERA, 9th-best. Waverley also had pitcher of the year Carlos Reyes (9-1, 2.02, a league-best 74 K).
