History, Comments, Contributions[edit]
The 1963 New York Mets were not as awful as the inaugural 1962 edition of the team, winning an additional 11 games, but they still finished in last place in the National League, 48 games behind the pennant-winning Los Angeles Dodgers. They did match their expansion incarnation by committing 210 errors. This is the last time a team has topped 200 errors in a season, with the 1974 Chicago Cubs coming closest with 199. They also set a National League record and tied the major league record set by the 1943 Philadelphia Athletics with 22 consecutive losses in road games. This was broken by the 2021 Arizona Diamondbacks.
Awards and Honors[edit]
