Road game
A road game is a game played outside a team's home ballpark; it usually involves travel to another city.
Usually, a team that is playing road games is on a "road trip", i.e. a series of games outside its home city, usually played in blocks of two to four consecutive games against the same opponent. The team is referred to as the "visitors" and traditionally bats first, although this was not always the case: in the early days of baseball, the home team could chose to bat first, an option which no longer exists.
In special circumstances, such as a make-up game for a home game that was cancelled earlier in the season, or when a minor league team is playing a road team, the visiting team may bat last. The visiting team has a built-in disadvantage in the game: see home field advantage.
