History, Comments, Contributions[edit]

While both the Cleveland Tate Stars and Cleveland Browns had finished last in their only years in the Negro National League, the third try at Negro League baseball in Cleveland, OH failed even worse as the Cleveland Elites went just 5-32 in 1926, the worst record yet for the city's team. Frank Duncan and Candy Jim Taylor served as managers; third baseman Taylor hit .329 at age 42 to lead the club. The team failed to finish the season and was replaced the next year by the Cleveland Hornets.
