After finishing in last place in 1914, the St. Louis Terriers added star pitcher Eddie Plank of Connie Mack's Philadelphia Athletics for the 1915 season. Dave Davenport won 22 games, and Plank and Doc Crandall won 21 games each, as the Terriers finished in second place, .001 behind the Chicago Whales. After the season, Terriers owner Phil Ball was allowed to purchase the St. Louis Browns, and he took several of his players with him.
