Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Angel Nesbitt began his professional career in 2009. He was signed by the Detroit Tigers as a non-drafted free agent on April 24th of that year.

After posting a 16.74 ERA with 36 hits allowed, 31 earned runs surrendered, 12 walks and only 6 strikeouts in 16.2 innings with the VSL Tigers in his first campaign, he righted the ship in 2010 by posting a 1.34 ERA in 20 appearances for the same squad. After two ho-hum campaigns in 2011 and 2012, Nesbitt had a 3.22 ERA in 52 games for the West Michigan Whitecaps in 2013 and was 3-0 with 20 saves and a 1.48 ERA in 48 games between the Lakeland Flying Tigers and Erie SeaWolves in 2014. He struck out 72 batters in 66 2/3 innings and was a Florida State League Mid- and Post-Season All-Star.

He made the Tigers' roster out of spring training in 2015 and made his debut on April 8th, pitching a scoreless third of an inning against the Minnesota Twins. He went 1-1, 5.40 in 24 games.

In November 2017, he was handed a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a banned stimulant. He was a free agent at the time.
