Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Zane Carlson spent three years in professional baseball, from 2004 to 2006. He was initially drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 16th round of the 2003 amateur draft, but did not sign. He was taken by the Kansas City Royals in the 27th round of the 2004 amateur draft and inked a contract. He never played above A ball and spent his final year in the independent ranks. Overall, he was 7-6 with a 5.09 ERA in 71 games.

He won co-Louisville Slugger Freshman Player of the Year honors in 2000, alongside third baseman Kevin Howard and second baseman Mike Fontenot, after going 1-2 with a 2.30 ERA and 46 strikeouts in 43 innings for Baylor University.
