Biographical Information[edit]
Yuya Yokoyama had pitched in the Nippon Pro Baseball for 4 years.
Yokoyama was drafted by the Hanshin Tigers in the first round of the 2014 NPB draft after they lost the lotteries for the rights to Kohei Arihara and Yasuaki Yamasaki; the scout was Takayoshi Nakao. He represented Japan in the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup, and he struck out 20 in 10 innings. He was one K behind co-leaders Yun-dong Kim and Naoyuki Uwasawa. He went 6-4 with a 2.36 in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2015, and he had a 6.75 ERA in 4 games for the big club. Yokoyama suffered from a left shoulder injury, so he only pitched 4 games combined for the big club in the next four seasons. He went 4-2 with a 2.54 ERA in the Western League in 2020, and he allowed 2 runs in an inning in the major league. Yokoyama announced his retirement after that season.
