Biographical Information[edit]
Yuya Gunji has played in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Gunji was on the Japanese collegiate All-Stars in 2019. [1] He was drafted by the Chunichi Dragons in the 4th round of the 2019 NPB draft, and he hit .156/.267/.203 in 30 games in 2020.[2] He then stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in 2021, and he was 8-for-42 in 2022. The Dragons traded him with Takumi Yamamoto to the Nippon Ham Fighters for Shingo Usami and Koki Saito in 2023, and he hit .254/.319/.331 in 55 games. Gunji then became a third baseman in 2024 (having been a catcher-outfielder previously), and he was selected into the 2024 NPB All-Star Game. He went 0-for-3 in Game 1, then he was 2-for-2 with a pair of singles against Takuma Kirishiki and Hiroki Ohnishi in Game 2. [3]
