Biographical Information[edit]

First baseman Yutaka Ishii broke into the Japanese Professional Baseball League at age 20, hitting .191/.335/.237 for the Tsubasa club. The team merged with another in 1941, becoming Taiyo; playing regularly, Ishii batted .179/.285/.223 in 87 games. He was 0 for 1 in 1942. Joining the Japanese military, he died in combat in World War II.
