Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Yunior Marté made his major league debut with the San Francisco Giants in the first days of the 2022 season. He ended up making 39 appearances out of their bullpen, going 1-1, 5.44 with 44 strikeouts in 48 innings. On January 9, 2023, he was traded to the Philadelphia Phillies in return for prospect Erik Miller when the Giants had to clear a spot on their 40-man roster after signing free agent reliever Luke Jackson.

Mart. was originally signed by the Kansas City Royals as an international amateur free agent in 2012, then became a free agent after the 2020 season, when he was signed by the Giants. He was moved to the bullpen full-time in 2017 and played his first AAA games in 2019 with the Omaha Storm Chasers before having to sit out the entire 2020 season when the minor leagues were shut down by the Coronavirus pandemic. He first played winter ball in the Dominican League with the Gigantes del Cibao in 2018-19, not allowing a single run in 14 1/3 innings spread over 10 outings. He has also played for the Criollos de Caguas in the Puerto Rican League. In 2021, he was 0-3, 3.49 in 43 games for the Sacramento RiverCats, with 4 saves and in 2022, when he was not with the Giants, he went 1-1, 3.16 with 3 saves in 25 games for Sacramento.
