Biographical Information[edit]

Yugo Bando pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Bando was drafted by the Fukuoka Softbank Hawks in the fourth round of the 2018 NPB draft, and he spent his first year in the NPB Farm Leagues. He had a 2.56 ERA in 20 relief outings in 2020, then he collected 16 holds with a solid 2.52 ERA in 44 appearances in 2021. On August 15, 2021, he completed a no-hitter with Carter Stewart, Yuki Tsumori, Shinya Kayama, Yuki Matsumoto and Hiroshi Kaino. However, the Hawks also couldn't score, so it was a tie. That game is the first no-hitter which was a tie in NPB history. Bando was 3-3 with a 3.18 ERA in 2022, and he was named the starter of the 2022 PLCS. He allowed 2 runs in 2 1/3 innings, and Hiroya Miyagi outdueled him. The Hawks were eliminated by the Orix Buffaloes in four games. Bando was a swingman in 2023, and he had a 5-4 record with a 3.04 ERA.
