Biographical Information[edit]

Yu-Yen Liu pitched in the CPBL.

Liu represented Taiwan in the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup, throwing six shutout innings. He was drafted by the Lamigo Monkeys in the third round of the 2016 CPBL Draft, and he had a 1.46 ERA in the minors in 2016 while having a 4.76 ERA in 3 games with the big club. Liu only pitched one game with the big club in 2017, and he missed most of the next two seasons due to left shoulder injury. His ERA was 8.15 in 37 games in the minors in 2020, then the Monkeys released him.

The Wei Chuan Dragons picked him up, and Liu had a 3.47 ERA in 27 games in the minor league in 2021. He had an elite 0.98 ERA in 23 games in 2022, but his ERA was 6.43 in 7 games for the big club. Liu stayed in the minors again as he only pitched one game in the major league, and he went 4-1 with a 2.64 ERA in 35 appearances.

Liu’s repertoire included a fastball (peak 91.3 mph), curveball , changeup and slider.
