Biographical Information

Yoshiyasu Tanebe was a pitcher in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Tanebe debuted in 1964, going 1-0 with a 2.45 ERA and .97 WHIP in 24 relief outings for the Yomiuri Giants. He pitched a career-high 33 games in 1965 and was 4-1 with a 2.49 ERA, .171 opponent average and .83 WHIP. In the 1965 Japan Series, the right-hander tossed 1 2/3 shutout innings in a game 4 loss to the Nankai Hawks, Yomiuri's lone loss of the Series. It was the first of a record nine straight Japan Series they won. He was 2-0 with a 0.81 ERA, .135 average and .63 WHIP in 20 games in 1966. During the 1966 Japan Series, he allowed one run in one inning to end a game 2 loss to Nankai but Yomiuri won in six. He had a 3.44 ERA and no decisions in 1967 then sputtered in 1968 (1-1, 6.11 in 9 G). He did not pitch in NPB the next year then was 5-1 with a 4.55 ERA and .297 opponent average for Nankai in 1969 and 0-1, 2.66 for them in 1970. He finished his NPB career 13-4 with a 3.04 ERA in 155 games.
