Biographical Information

Infielder Yordy Cabrera was born in the Dominican Republic but attended high school in Lakeland, Florida. He was taken by the Oakland Athletics in the second round of the 2010 amateur draft. Cabrera was signed by scout Trevor Schaffer for $1.25 million and made his pro debut that summer.

Following the 2012 season, Cabrera was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks, who promptly turned around and dealt him to the Miami Marlins.

Cabrera's father Basilio Cabrera played and managed in the minors.
