Biographical Information[edit]

Yong-woon Shin has pitched in the Korea Baseball Organization.

The KIA Tigers drafted Shin in 2002. He was 2-0 with a 3.55 ERA for the team that season. He had a workhorse year at age 19 in 2003 (11-3, 4 Sv, 3.63 in 70 G), finishing among the KBO leaders in appearances (7th), wins (tied for 6th), holds (11, tied for 9th) and strikeouts (96, 9th). He was even sharper in 2004 (4-2, 11 Sv, 2.08), finishing 9th in saves. He was 10th in saves in 2005 (4-6, 7 Sv, 3.08). He only pitched 18 games in 2006 but was superb (4-0, 0.72 ERA, WHIP under 1) then slumped in 2007 (8-10, 4.73), tying for fifth in defeats. He battled injuries to his elbow and shoulder the next few years and only appeared briefly in 2011 (2 R in 5 1/3 IP). He resurfaced in 2013 with the Samsung Lions and was his best since 2006 (2-0, 2.03, 26 H in 40 IP over 44 G).
