Biographical Information[edit]
Yong-dal Kim played in the Korea Baseball Organization for 7 years.
Kim joined the MBC Blue Dragons when the KBO was founded in 1982, and he hit .316/.381/.464 in 68 games in his first season. He also won the first KBO Gold Glove as a first baseman. He slumped to .217/.278/.277 in 1983, and he soon bounced back with a .295/.391/.463 batting line in 1984. Kim then recorded a .232/.327/.359 batting line in 1985, and he was 9-for-43 in 1986. He hit .286/.388/.405 in 1987, but he went 0-for-18 in 1988 then he announced his retirement. Kim was the batting coach for the LG Twins from 1990 to 1999 and from 2007 to 2009, for the Hyundai Unicorns from 2000 to 2006, for the Hanwha Eagles in 2012, for the KIA Tigers in 2013 and for the Samsung Lions from 2020 to 2021. He also managed KIA's minor league team in 2014, and he was an assistant coach for Daegu High School from 2017 to 2018.
Overall, Kim hit .259/.344/.381 with 153 hits and 12 homers in 7 seasons in the KBO.
