Biographical Information[edit]

Yoilán Cerce is a Cuban infielder.

In the 2004 World Junior Championship, he batted .407/.448/.815 with 4 triples and 7 RBI to help lead Cuba to a Gold Medal. Cerce hit .325 through his first four seasons in Cuba, debuting at age 16. In his fifth year, 2008-2009, the Guantanamo second baseman batted .375/~.413/.567 with 85 runs in 86 games. He finished among the Serie Nacional leaders in runs (2nd place, 2 behind Ramón Tamayo‎), hits (136, 1st, 5 ahead of #2 Yulieski Gourriel), total bases (206, 5th) and average (tied for 6th with Alfredo Despaigne). He made the All-Star team at second base, beating out national team regular Héctor Olivera Jr..

Cerce was 5 for 14 in the 2009 World Port Tournament with a double and was hit by pitch three times and was caught stealing twice.

He hit .333/.387/.475 in 2009-2010 and was 9th in the league with 120 hits.
