Biographical Information[edit]

Yenier Bello is the catcher for Sancti Spíritus. He debuted in the 2003-2004 Serie Nacional. After five seasons, he had hit only .233 and slugged .362 as a backup catcher to Eriel Sánchez. He started 2008-2009 on a strong note, splitting C/DH duties with Sánchez, hitting .286/~.317/.528 with 13 HR in 199 AB and made Cuba's provisional roster for the 2009 World Baseball Classic but did not make the final cut. He had played for Cuba in the 2007 World Port Tournament, going 0 for 4.

Bello finished 2008-2009 hitting .300/.346/.550 and throwing out 17 of 30 would-be base-stealers. Yenier tied Alexander Guerrero and José Dariel Abreu for 8th in the league with 17 home runs and also tied for second with 7 sacrifice flies. His 1.83 bases per hit tied for 8th in the circuit.

Bello fell to .253/.304/.415 in 2009-2010.
