Yasutaka Hattori pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball and for the Japanese national team.
Hattori represented Japan in the 2006 Haarlemse Honkbalweek and 2006 Asian Games. Three teams drafted him in the first round of the 2007 NPB draft, and the Chiba Lotte Marines won the lottery. Hattori spent the first two years of his career in the NPB Farm Leagues, and he allowed 9 runs in just 5 2/3 innings with the big club in 2010. He was mainly in the ni-gun in 2011, only had 5 appearances with the big club. The Osaka native broke out in 2012, when he recorded a solid 3.38 ERA in 51 relief outings with 20 holds. However, he struggled again in 2012, allowed 8 runs in 8 2/3 innings, and never had another appearance with the big club again. He announced his retirement after the 2015 season.
Overall, Hattori was 2-1, notched 22 holds and a 5.81 ERA and pitched 48 innings in 4 seasons in NPB.
