Biographical Information[edit]
Wirt Spencer was 29-28-3 as head coach of Texas A&M from 1904-1908. He had played in the minors, appearing for a couple Texas League clubs in 1892. He was in the Texas Association in 1896. The next known sighting was in 1898, when he hit .199 and slugged .211 in 42 games as a shortstop for the Fort Worth Panthers. In 1899, he was 3-3 as a pitcher and batted .167 for the Dallas Steers/Montgomery Senators, his last known minor league stop.
He umpired in the Texas League in 1908[1], at least
