Wilson Pennants

From BR Bullpen

The Wilson Pennants were the only professional baseball club from Wilson, NC in the 1970s or 1980s, playing in 1973 only in the Carolina League. The Pennants were a co-op team that posted the league's worst record at 52-88. They were third in the six-team league in attendance, though (45,132), making it surprising that the club only lasted one season. Managed by Ray Hathaway and Don Lock, the team did have one All-Star, 3B Dick Oliver. Oliver hit .269/~.358/.392. Utility man Jim Conn (.315/~.400/.374) was second in the league in batting average.
