Biographical Information[edit]
Wee Willie Clark was a Pittsburgh boy who played in the majors first with the New York Giants and then with the Pittsburgh Pirates. A first baseman, his hitting and fielding were better with the Pirates than they had been with the Giants, but his major league career ended at 26 in his second year with the Pirates. Clark was released in August 1899 and, the following season, the Pirates picked up various players, including Honus Wagner from the Louisville team to build a pennant-winner. Clark went on to play with the minor league Milwaukee Brewers in 1900.
There is another William Otis Clark who played in the major leagues, remembered under the name Otey Clark, but apparently no relation to Willie Clark.
