Biographical Information[edit]
Outfielder William Sowell played two seasons in the Detroit Tigers organization. He split 1949 between the Thomasville Tigers (.234, .325 SLG in 50 G) and Griffin Tigers (.386, .614 SLG in 26 G). In 1950, he hit only .211/.339/.267 in 55 games for Thomasville and .345/.463/.514 in 34 games for Griffin. He also served in the US Army. He later coached Little League Baseball for 30 years and worked as an insurance adjuster.
