Griffin Tigers

From BR Bullpen

The Griffin, GA club in the Georgia-Alabama League was known as the Griffin Pimientos both prior to and following 1950, but for that year alone they were called the Griffin Tigers. Managed by Abe White until August 7 and Jack Bearden thereafter, the team finished 6th in the 8-team league at 57-64. Unaffiliated with any major league team, they presumably played in an offense-friendly park as they were second in runs (802) and runs allowed (808). The club drew 37,167 fans, third in the league and only 48 behind the second most-popular team. The team was led offensively by outfielder Bearden (.354/~.365/.584, 108 R) and 1B J. Donald Stoyle (.362/~.444/.517, 104 R, 121 RBI, second in the league in average and RBI). John Ebetino (9-4, 3.93) was the ace pitcher.
