Biographical Information[edit]

Will Skett, also called Wil, played college ball for the Long Beach State Dirtbags and graduated with a degree in criminal justice and police science. The Toronto Blue Jays chose Skett in the 21st round of the 1996 amateur draft and he played in their minor league system from 1996 to 1998. An outfielder and second baseman, he was named the team MVP for the St. Catharines Stompers of the New York-Penn League in his first season, 1996, when he hit .276/.370/.496 in 75 games. Skett left baseball in 1999 and joined the Los Angeles Police Department where he worked as a police officer until 2013.

Skett founded the So Cal Hitting Zone baseball training facility in 2013 and remained as owner through 2019. In addition, Skett served as the head varsity baseball coach for the Faith Baptist High School Contenders from 2017-2019. In 2017 ,he led them to the state championship game.

In 2020, he was scheduled to be the hitting coach of the Myrtle Beach Pelicans in the Carolina League before the Coronavirus pandemic wiped out the minor league season.
