Biographical Information[edit]
Wiley Warren played for Team USA and in the minors.
Warren was the first baseman for Wake Forest. [1] He was with the team when they represented the USA in the 1951 Pan American Games, helping them to a Silver Medal. [2] He hit .255/.393/.288 with 82 walks in 108 games for the 1952 Rocky Mount Leafs and was replaced Turkey Tyson as manager on August 7; he was their 4th and final manager of the year. He led Coastal Plain League first basemen in putouts (935), assists (59), double plays (59) and fielding percentage (.989). [3]
In 1953, he batted .253/.393/.373 for the Mooresville Moors. [4] His granddaughter Landon Warren later set a national record for a hitting streak in high school softball with 75 games. [5]
