Biographical Information[edit]
Wikelman Ramírez has pitched in the minors.
He was signed by Tampa Bay Rays scouts Marlon Roche and Ronnie Blanco in August 2016. [1] He made his pro debut the next summer, going 1-1 with a save, 1.02 ERA and .96 WHIP in 13 games (9 starts) for the DSL Rays 2. That earned him a look stateside in 2018 but he only made two starts for the GCL Rays (6 R, 5 ER in 8 1/3 IP; 0-1), spending most of the year on the DL. [2] He split 2019 between the GCL Rays (1-0, 2 Sv, 2 H, 4 BB, 18 K, 0 R in 15 IP) and Princeton Rays (2-1, 11.22 in 10 G).
Let loose by the Rays, he was 3-0 with a 1.12 ERA when Venezuela won the 2021 U23 Baseball World Cup; he led the event in saves. [3] He was with the Navegantes del Magallanes in Venezuela in the winter of 2021-2022, going 3-0 with a 7.43 ERA. He had a 0-1, 7.20 record for them the next winter. He was a late cut for Venezuela in the 2023 Pan American Games.
