Ronnie Blanco was a lawyer who was General Manager of the Navegantes del Magallanes. In 2006, the Tampa Bay Rays hired him to direct their Venezuelan operations, focusing on a country the team had not been involved with significantly before. He signed José Alvarado, Henry Centeno, Leopoldo Correa, Erick Epifano, German Marquez, Felipe Rivero, José Roca and Albert Suarez.
