Biographical Information[edit]
Wese Callahan appeared in the majors for two weeks with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1913. A shortstop, he played in 7 games hitting .286. Manager Miller Huggins used Charley O'Leary as the regular shortstop that year, but Charley hit only .217 and was essentially done (he came back many years later at age 51 for one game). Callahan was not back in 1914, when Huggins made Art Butler the shortstop. Butler hit only .201 but kept the job in 1915. Wese played for Winchester and Battle Creek before coming to the majors, and afterwards played for Jacksonville and Wheeling.
