Biographical Information[edit]

Wes Bliven was first drafted in the 54th round of the 1987 amateur draft by the Toronto Blue Jays but did not sign. That year Bliven had been named the Student-Athlete of the Year among Santa Clara University seniors.

He was assigned to the Bend Bucks and went 6-3 with a 2.04 ERA, the best in the league. Though he led the Northwest League in ERA that year, he never pitched professionally again. He later became a physics professor at Humboldt University.
