Biographical Information[edit]

Wei-Chien Chen pitched in the CPBL for 4 years.

Chen was drafted by the Brother Elephants in the 3rd round of the 2009 CPBL Draft, but he underwent the Tommy John surgery and missed the entire 2010 season. He was 0-4 with a 3.18 ERA in the minors in 2011, and he also pitched 2 games with the big club. He then had a 3.18 ERA in 44 appearances with 12 holds in 2012, and he led the minors in games, ERA and holds. He then recorded a 3.86 ERA in 3 games with the big club in 2013, and he went 3-6 with a 4.81 ERA in the minors. Chen had a 7-4 record with a 3.38 ERA in 2014, and he led the minors in starts, wins, innings and hits allowed. However, Chen’s ERA was 21.60 in the major league, and he only pitched one inning there in 2015. Chen was released after the 2015 season, and his professional career ended.

Overall, Chen was 0-1 with a 7.88 ERA, pitched 8 innings and struck out 3 in 4 seasons in the CPBL.
