Biographical Information[edit]

Wayne Schurr is the only major league player out of Hillsdale College (through 2022), where he attended in 1958-1959. He was signed as a free agent by the San Francisco Giants in 1959. In 1963 he was with the Tacoma Giants, then was claimed by the Chicago Cubs in the 1963 Rule V Draft. Coming up with Chicago in 1964, he pitched quite a bit in the first half of the season, appearing in 26 games from April 15th through July 10th, with a 3.72 ERA.

He was traded to the California Angels as part of a four-player trade following the 1966 season, but never pitched for them in the majors.
