Biographical Information[edit]
Washington Fulmer was a 35-year-old rookie in 1875 when he played in his one game, going 2-for-4. He appeared for the 1875 Brooklyn Atlantics, who won only 2 games all year, in the last season of the National Association's existence.
He was a fireman in Philadelphia at the time of his death.
His brother Chick Fulmer was nearly 11 years younger, but broke into the league four years earlier. Chick played for Philadelphia in the year that Washington played for Brooklyn.
After his death, his widow filed for a Civil War pension, mentioning two regiments in which Washington Fulmer had served. An obituary from the time also mentions his Civil War service.
