Warren Sipp was the first strength and conditioning coach in Pittsburgh Pirates history.
Sipp was a fullback at the University of Michigan. He then went to the University of Pittsburgh, where he earned a master's degree and doctorate in philosophy. Sipp was the varsity sports conditioning coach at Pitt. In 1986, Syd Thrift hired him away from Pitt to be the first strength and conditioning coach in Pirates history. He was with the team for 17 years, leaving in 2002 after a reorganization put into place by new GM Dave Littlefield. Sipp had held the position despite three prior changes in the general manager of the club.
On the road, Sipp would make necklaces of beads to distribute to the flight attendants on the plane. He also worked at The Children's Attention Home and Winthrop University.
