Walter Hackett was a regular in the 1884 Union Association and also played in the 1885 National League as well as in the minors for a number of years.
He was the brother of Mert Hackett and a cousin of John Clarkson, Dad Clarkson and Walter Clarkson. As of 1904 Walter worked for the Boston Globe.
