Biographical Information[edit]
Named after Hall of Famer Walter Johnson, pitcher Walt Kellner played parts of two seasons in the majors with the Philadelphia Athletics. With the Athletics, he was a teammate of his brother, pitcher Alex Kellner, and was the same size.
In addition to his brother, Alex, several other members of Kellner's family played baseball. His father, John "Pop" Kellner, played in the minors, as did his son, Frank Kellner. Walt's other son, Joe Kellner, played college ball for the University of Arizona.
In seven innings pitched during parts of two season with the Athletics, Kellner walked 7 and struck out 6 hitters. In seven minor league seasons, he never had a winning record.
