Biographical Information[edit]

"In his first major-league start, Holborow tossed a two-hit shutout to beat the Red Sox 4-0 (despite his brilliant performance, Holborow would never start another game in the big leagues)." - from an article at ESPN about the 1945 Senators, apparently incorrect because Holborow started one more game three years later in 1948

Wally Holborow was a thirty-year-old rookie who pitched well in two stints with the wartime Washington Senators but less effectively with the 1948 Athletics.

He got in most of his major league innings with the 1945 Senators who won 87 games. He was one year younger than teammate Harlond Clift.

A post here states that Wally played semi-pro ball and an executive with the N.Y. Dept. of Sanitation contacted members of his team to offer them jobs at the Dept. with time off to play for the Dept's team.
