Biographical Information[edit]

Walker McKinven played college ball at the universities noted above and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2012. He spent the summer of that year playing professionally for the independent Worcester Tornadoes of the Can-Am League. This season ended his playing career.

The Chicago Cubs hired him in 2013 and he filled various roles over the next two years. This included working as a video coordinator for the Daytona Cubs and Iowa Cubs. In between the two seasons McKinven served as a front office intern for the team. McKinven moved to the Texas Rangers organization in 2015 in an advance scouting/video position.

The Milwaukee Brewers hired McKinven in 2016 and he rose steadily through their organization. He spent 2016 in the same role he held with Texas. In 2017-2018 he worked as the coordinator for advanced scouting. He spent 2019-2020 as the Brewers' Manager of Major League Strategy. These steps led to his current role as Associate Pitching, Catching and Strategy Coach starting in 2021.
