Biographical Information[edit]

Walker McKinven played college ball at the universities noted above and earned a bachelor's degree in business administration in 2012. He spent the summer of that year playing professionally for the independent Worcester Tornadoes of the Can-Am League. This season ended his playing career.

The Chicago Cubs hired him in 2013 and he filled various roles over the next two years. This included working as a video coordinator for the Daytona Cubs and Iowa Cubs. In between the two seasons McKinven served as a front office intern for the team. McKinven moved to the Texas Rangers organization in 2015 in an advance scouting/video position.

The Milwaukee Brewers hired McKinven in 2016 and he rose steadily through their organization. He spent 2016 in the same role he held with Texas. In 2017-2018 he worked as the coordinator for advanced scouting. He spent 2019-2020 as the Brewers' Manager of Major League Strategy. These steps led to his current role as Associate Pitching, Catching and Strategy Coach starting in 2021 and continuing through the 2023 season.
