Wales is one of the four constituent nations of the United Kingdom and is located in western Great Britain. It borders England to the east and lies across the Irish Sea from Ireland, to the west. A number of future major league players were born here in the 19th Century.

A variant of baseball, using a flat bat on a field with no foul territory and with poles used instead of bases, has been played here since the 19th century, when it evolved from the British game of rounders. While this version of the sport failed to take hold anywhere else, it is still played here to this day.
