Vlatoheslav Taran was the center fielder for the Ukrainian national team in their first European Championship, the 1995 European Championship. Hitting 7th in the opener, he went 0 for 3 against the Netherlands' Erik Lommerde and Rob Cordemans while handling four putouts. His first hit came against Spain (probably facing Jose Becerra). He was 2 for 20 with two runs and a RBI for the event, with 16 putouts, 2 assists and an error. He was 7th among the 11 qualifying center fielders in fielding percentage.
