Vin Soreca was the All-American catcher for NCAA Division II in 1981. The Philadelphia Phillies took him in the third round of the 1981 amateur draft. He hit only .179/.217/.268 with 47 strikeouts in 123 AB between the Peninsula Pilots and Reading Phillies that year. In 1982, he hit .143/.200/.167 for the Spartanburg Traders and was converted to pitching, where he was much better (5-5, Sv, 3.83). He ended his career with Peninsula in 1983, going 7-7 with 5 saves and a 5.06 ERA in 46 outings.
