Biographical Information[edit]

The Pittsburgh Pirates drafted Victor Ramos in the 35th round of the 2000 amateur draft and he pitched in their minor league system from 2000-2004. He spent 2005 with the Chicago Cubs and 2006 with the Boston Red Sox organizations. Over his minor league career Ramos had a 7-8 record with 2 saves and a 3.67 ERA while pitching strictly in relief. Ramos made a brief re-appearance in 2009 when he pitched in one game for the Camden Riversharks of the independent Atlantic League. In that outing Ramos faced four batters, but failed to retire any of them.

In 2019 the New York Mets hired Ramos as a Player Development Associate and he worked with the St. Lucie Mets club that year. He was scheduled to move into a pitching coach role with one of the DSL Mets teams in 2020 before the minor league season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Ramos did serve as the DSL Mets 2 pitching coach in 2021 before moving stateside in the same role with the St. Lucie Mets in 2022 and Brooklyn Cyclones in 2023.

In this same time frame Ramos has been active as a coach in his native Puerto Rico. With the Gigantes de Carolina he was the bullpen coach in 2018/2019 and their bench coach in 2019/2020. After a year away he joined the Criollos de Caguas in 2021/2022 as the team's pitching coach and returned to the same role in 2022/2023. He helped the Criollos win the Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League championship in his first year as pitching coach.
