Biographical Information[edit]

Victor Diaz played high school baseball at St. Joseph's High School in New Jersey. He helped his prep squad to a New Jersey state runner-up finish (2010) while garnering first team All-State honors. After high school Diaz attended Mississippi State University, State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota, and Old Dominion University. Diaz appeared in 58 games with 25 starts over four seasons with ODU (2013-16), helping guide the Monarchs to 113 victories and a 2014 NCAA Regional appearance. The right-hander went 5-2 with a 3.00 ERA in 2014 and posted a 6-4 record and 3.78 ERA in his final collegiate season in 2016. Diaz graduated from Old Dominion with a degree in Sports Management.

Diaz moved into coaching as an assistant coach for the Kentucky Wesleyan College Panthers in 2017 before returning to his alma mater as a volunteer assistant coach for the 2018 season. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University hired him away from ODU and he served as an assistant coach there for the 2019-2020 seasons.

In 2021 the Philadelphia Phillies hired Diaz as a pitching coach at their Florida training complex. It is unclear if he was officially a pitching coach for the FCL Phillies team or if he had other responsibilities. In 2022 he moved up in the organization and was the pitching coach for the Clearwater Threshers.
